Hermit: a font for programmers, by a programmer, http://bit.ly/15MfBtn

Doesn't look half bad. Not sure if I'll use it though.

I'd be intrigued to give it a look, but it seems to have exceeded it's bandwidth.

Am getting a 404 myself

I've been using this Bitstream Vera Sans Mono for years now on both windows and Linux.
I'm going to give Hermit a look but Bitstream makes the same claims about programming use.

So... How do I insert this into my progamming tools, again?

Hawkee  -  Sep 23, 2013

We use Source Code Pro here on Hawkee, but I believe we used Bitstream before that.

Hawkee  -  Sep 23, 2013

@Farcrada Depends on what programming tools you're using.

Farcrada  -  Sep 23, 2013

@Hawkee Well... I'm doing some Unity, mIRC, Notepad++, ConTEXT and I believe it's called: Dreamweaver...? That kind of stuff.

You'll first need to install the font to your OS then you'll have to go into the preferences for each of those to change the default font.

6-13 How can I customize the fonts used in mIRC ?
All font settings can be done from the windows' System Menus (those menus under that little horizontal bar or small icon in every top left corner of ANY window in mIRC and Windows), the /font command or the Tools/Font menu item.

Use /font or select the 'Font' option in the System menu and a fonts selection dialog will pop up. Here you can choose whatever fonts are available on your machine. This could be New Times Roman, Arial, MS Sans Serif,..... whatever you like. You can also set the font size and set it to bold. (italic is available but disabled for most fonts at the moment) The settings you set here will be saved as the default for the window you are in.

@Farcrada with any other program use whatever preferences but in mIRC after you set it in one place you can close mIRC and then open mirc.ini with Notepad, find the font section and copy/paste all the locations the same if you wish to use the same font everywhere (which I do). A monospace font in the editor is of course good but elsewhere it makes any ascii art posted line up. There is like 3-4 places to set fonts so that's why I just do it in mirc.ini so I get them all.

I tried this font and the one gooshie pointed out (bitstream) which can be found at http://ftp.gnome.org/pub/GNOME/sources/ttf-bitstream-vera/1.10/ both in Notepad++ and I am now using Bitsteam Vera Sans Mono at a font size of 7. I like it better than what I was using and better than any of the Hermit fonts.
