My current favorite build. The 210mm size allows 5" props but reduces weight enough to make this thing float like a feather. I just flashed Betaflight 2.2 and with Airmode enabled I feel like this things agility and stability has gone through the roof.

Hello! New to minis and I'm thinking of building this build part for part! Do you think it would be a good first build? Or is there anything I should swap out? You mentioned burning out the VTX, is this something I should be concerned about?

Any advise would be great. Looks like a great little quad, already bought the frame!

Thanks! Well the frame is on the way so I'm committed! I'll make it all fit or die trying.

Awesome! Looking forward to seeing how it turns out!

I never did give the update on this... this is after my first crash! Taking it out for it's real first long session tonight!

I just noticed you're using a cheap Eachine VTX. How do you like it? I'm running the cheap Boscam VTX, but it's a tad large. Yours looks like a much better option.

Question about that power filter listed in your build, are you going from the balanced lead on your battery? Or did you solder it to your pdb so you don't need to plug in to cables each pack? I also read you can solder the filter to the pdb using the 2s port, but wondering if the voltage spikes would be further mitigated by not being on the pdb, probably doesn't matter, curious though. I'm also planning on adding in a capacitor though just to make sure. In fact, they included one with the escs.

Actually, all that filter does is add a small capacitor. I had it soldered to the PDB but ended up ripping it apart and just soldering the capacitor to the PDB instead....if they came with a capacitor I would just use that instead.

Ah ok, that makes more sense, I didn't think I would need both so I was confused. Thanks for the reply! Hoping to actually begin the build tonight!

Beautiful build! What's your thrust:weight ratio? And how tight are your components?

AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..

With the release of the DJI FPV Drone cinematic FPV has become a lot more accessible, but you certainly don't want to crash a $750 drone! The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..
