So far the Eachine Minicube Flytower from Banggood is awesome!!! It fits perfectly in this frame and made this build super easy. It took me longer to print the 3D parts than to build the quad, I was able to finish in about 2 hours. Then after my first high speed crash and everything changed. After all the repairs I started to get a lot of jello in the video. To make a long story short, I replace the props, the FC/ ESC and 2 different motors (DYS 1104 7500 and RotorX 1107 7600kv) and nothing got rid of all the vibration. Then I tried the PID and ESC settings on Airblade's website and it solved all my problems. Once again, it was user error and NOT the hardware. =) I am not sure if I really trust the Eachine Minicube Flytower because I had issues with the 4in1 ESC and RX that was on a different quad.

Currently it flies great with the RotorX 2535 4 blade props but when I tired the Gemfan Flash 2540 3 blade props it felt like it was on rails. Unfortunately the gemfan props was just a loner set so now I am back to the RotorX. I still like the RotorX 2535 4 blade props because you get a lot more thrust than the 3 blade props.

I think the batteries are the biggest limitation with these micro quads. You can see a huge performance difference between the smaller 450mah 3s lipo and 650mah 3s lipos. I do not get the same voltage sage when I use the 650mah, so I can fly more aggressive and not worry as much. But with the 450mah, every time I do a punch-out or heavy throttle, I have to pause a little to let the battery to recover. Both the 450mah and 650mah are Tattu 3s 75C.

The only reason why I even purchased the EMAX “F3 MAGNUM MINI” FPV TOWER SYSTEM is because I was not able to figure out why I was having vibration in my FPV video. With that said, I wanted to soft mount the EMAX “F3 MAGNUM MINI” FPV TOWER SYSTEM to eliminate any issues that might be caused from vibrations. I'm not talking about using rubber o-ring because the is not a real soft mount. I reamed out the mounting hole for both the FC and ESC so I can fit the inductrix rubber grommets in it. Everything went fine until the I tried to separated the FC from the ESC for the 10th time and the connecting pins on the FC ripped from the solder joints. I tired to contact Emax and all they did was give me a discount code to buy another one from their website. I only needed the FC and they only sell it as a set right now. I was lucky to have a friend who is a soldering MASTER and he was able to fix it for me.

I know it is not the lightest setup at 95g but it will be a few grams lighter after swapping out the stainless steel screws with aluminum. I have some long m3 screws holding the TPU backpack because the last big crash, I split the TPU backpack where the screw ended. As you can see in the picture, even after flying full speed in to a tree branch everything looks fine, the only thing I broke was the RunCam Micro camera (bought a square trade warranty through amazon so it was covered), TPU backpack (Printed another one... thanks Thingiverse) and some cut wires (the connectors on the RunCam Micro pinched some wires against the TPU backpack and cut some of the video wires).

The only other thing I can see that I need to do is get a better battery strap (its on order from AirBladeUAV) and secure the power cable come from the ESC. On a different frame I had one of the battery pads rip off, but at least there is a pad on both side of the board. =P

how long do you fly?

wrong17   Jan 28, 2018

It really depends on how you fly but I get about 3 - 4 minutes.

Beautiful build man!

Thanks but the credit should go to AirBladeUAV because it their design and all I am doing is putting it together :)

AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..

With the release of the DJI FPV Drone cinematic FPV has become a lot more accessible, but you certainly don't want to crash a $750 drone! The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..
