Have you decided to build this out or is it still a proposal?

JosephKing   Aug 19, 2015

Still thinking about what I want to do with it. I'm going to switch it to a s550.

Any particular reason you're opting for a hex?

Casey   Aug 30, 2015

Build is finished.
Hex? Decided to build quad due mainly to the price of the additional motors/esc's

I was considering adding a designation for proposed builds vs completed builds. It might be helpful to separate them out.

I am using Sunnysky x2216 II 880kv motors on my s500. They work perfectly.

Yes, the SunnySkys would be a better choice. Also, I'd go with a Pixhawk Lite from Goodluckbuy. You can buy a cheap APM 2.6 kit from eBay for the other parts. Then you'll come out ahead with a spare APM FC and save money. You could even sell the spare APM FC on RCGroups for $30-$35 and you'll spend about $110 for essentially what you'd get for $190+shipping.

Go with the sunny skys you posted with 1255 carbons with 4S

AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..

With the release of the DJI FPV Drone cinematic FPV has become a lot more accessible, but you certainly don't want to crash a $750 drone! The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..
