AvocadoXL - murdered racing rig

The AvocadoXL is an experiment in frame design where the battery sits center mass at a 45-degree angle. The hope was by having most of the mass at the center of gravity, the moment of inertia would be less, allowing for quicker turns/spins. I've noticed flight characteristics benefit somewhat from this test, but ultimately the added weight of the additional battery support/covering and thickness of the body plate + arms makes it less appealing for racing. Freestyling may be a better option.

Also included a strap point for the go-pro session on the top when that was a popular camera option.

This was designed and built in 2016-17

I produced a few kits for this that never sold. If you're interested in building your own, I have kits available for this build, leave a comment or message me and I'll get in touch.

I like your custom PCB that rings the battery, and consolidates your attachments into a plug. Very cool. I also like the concept, I bet if you put some videos and other posts about it online, you could spark a trend.

Thanks! Sadly the racing scene at the time this was designed considered it too bulky and heavy. ( LIkely even now! ), but it doe smake a nice free style frame. If you're interested in trying it out I still have kits available, can sell it for shipping cost.

AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..

With the release of the DJI FPV Drone cinematic FPV has become a lot more accessible, but you certainly don't want to crash a $750 drone! The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..
