Kissed by a Martian

So like a lot of builders out there I was looking to achieve a few specific goals with this build.

Goal 1 was to start with a frame that was affordable and not going to break the bank. The martian II seemed to fit the bill. I own an alien 6" frame and they are near identical in more ways than one. Yes the carbon is cheap, Yes its a ripoff of Impulses hard work, yes it needs some tweeks to be perfect. With that said I liked the idea of being able to have a few spare frames around for cheap. My goal is to spend more time flying and less time waiting for usps, shipping, and so on.

Goal 2 was to pack the frame full of tested and reliable gear for Motors, esc's and FC. I chose kiss as my FC and Esc's for a lot of reasons but the main reason is flight characteristics and ease of tuning. I wanted to streamline everything for consistencies sake. Don't get me wrong. I love betaflight and am running it on several "fun" builds but streamlining was really important for me to become a better pilot. I wanted to spend less time fiddling and more time flying. I choose emax rs2205's for motors because they put out good power and frankly I have had a great experience with them thus far. Also I was able to bulk order the fc, esc's and motors from which saved me on shipping.

Goal 3 was to keep it under 400grams without battery and camera, I came in just over at 404g. If I was to change the hardware and a few other small components I could have achieved my weight goal.

After pasting my rates in from another build and then some in field tuning I have to say this is my favorite freestyle flying rig. it performs so well its just insane. This quad is a blast to fly. Once you’ve gotten it tuned and gotten used to how aggressively it flies, you won’t want to fly anything else.

This is a great quad for the performance and the price point.

A FEW NOTES: You may notice in my parts list I am running the BeeRotor 5.8G 20-600mW Tunable Transmitter. Its garbage! I regret not going with a tbs unify or immersion Tramp. The vtx gets really hot, the channels are aligned completely nonsensically, and I have had one fail already. I have some tramps and a wand on the way. Take my advise and steer clear of this transmitter.

How did you mount that RunCam Eagle? Looks like you used the martian mount but that doesnt fit for me :(

The backplate doesnt fit on my Runcam. And If I use it without I can't lock the Angle.

I drilled new hole in the backplate so it would fit correctly,

Looks good! This is actually a very decent frame for the price.

AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..

With the release of the DJI FPV Drone cinematic FPV has become a lot more accessible, but you certainly don't want to crash a $750 drone! The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..
