6s SuperG LR+GPS

Welp the tinkerbug finally bit on the 5in front again. Prompted a bit by Chriss Rossers video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C1Xpt0y2-KU&ab_channel=ChrisRosser The idea was always to swap the 25mm 1870kv Imperial motors from the other Super G build onto this one after I found/decided on motors to replace them with. Welp a couple days after I had decided on the wasp 2020kv 22.5-06.5 motors FPVcycle decided to clearance the older emerald 25mm 1880kv motors for way too good of a price to pass up. So with those motors in the mail the rebuilds needed to start.

SOOO! motors came off the 4s SuperG and went back onto the GT M540 frame they came off of (comical anecdote about tinkering to come later concerning that drone) and the 25mm imperial motors went onto this build. Checked motor rotation and reprogrammed some LEDs and this quad feels ready for some test flights.

The last rotorbuilds profile for the Super G was a bit outdated. Tinkering had occurred previous to this bout of shenanigans. During the build of the 6s SuperG I was having some issues with the HobbyWing stack and ordered a second stack before I even heard back from hobbywing warranty service. After a step back and some troubleshooting on my own I discovered that I had used the wrong connection cable between the FC and ESC. Now I had two baller f7 blheli32 60a stacks! What ever should I do? Easy. Flop out the 40a f4 BLheli-S stack that was in this 4s SuperG and plop in the baller stack. With that came a little bit more cleanup and some re-orienting.

When installing this stack in both the SuperG builds I rotate them 180deg to put the battery lead facing the front!
A couple reasons. Firstly I want more room for the capacitor. Next the power leads routing up through the top plate of the frame protects from props and cleans everything up considerably. To accomplish this on the SuperG you have to file down that top plate just a bit to fit the XT60 through, but not very much at all.

So now the funny anecdote about tinkering. I bought the GT 520M from a friend at work to get into 5in quads. I had always planned to strip that frame for parts to build up a SuperG. That process happened exponentially faster than I had anticipated. And now, we are at a point where all the original components of that GT 520M frame are now back sitting in a pile under the frame waiting to get re-assembled into something. So funny story is I bought a drone for inspiration. Played with all the parts. Learned a thing or two and am now going to return it to the original format and hopefully pass it on to its next owner. Funny and absolutely ridiculous. Part of me fully acknowledges how wastefully indecisive all of that process was, but it is what it is, and in the end Im where I want to be, so I cant complain about how I got here.

AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..

With the release of the DJI FPV Drone cinematic FPV has become a lot more accessible, but you certainly don't want to crash a $750 drone! The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..
