TBS Source One Slammed HD 7"

Here is another TBS Source One 7" HD build. Most of my builds may be similar but never the same. This time around I spent a good amount of time remixing a Moongoat rear XT60 mount to fix on this frame, plus adding the dual antenna holders for the DJI Air Unit and NOT the single antenna on a Caddx Vista. The DJI Air Unit is mounted upside down on the top plate and it held one with double side tape and 2 screws. The screws on the bottom of the air unit had similar spacing as the rear standoff hole for the Source One frame. So, I was able to use a longer M1.6 screw to hard mount it to the top plate.

I wanted to push the FPV camera forward so I will get less prop in its view. I used the same camera mount that was on a Floss 2 HD conversion kit. Unfortunately, I had to remix the file for it to fit this setup. I also removed the bottom standoff so it could be used as an Immortal T holder instead.

After my last build, I grown to like this new style of GoPro holder. Instead of a full case coverage I used a half case but with a unique lens guard that acts as a lock to prevent the GoPro from ejecting for the mount.

As for the motors, I use the same motors as I have with all my other 7" builds. I know the 1850KV motors might be a tad high, but it seems to work very well for my builds. When I am flying at sea level, I typically use about 70% - 80% throttle limit in betaflight. But when I go mountain surfing in higher altitude, I can my profiles through my DJI goggles so there is NO throttle limit, and it feels just like I was flying at sea level again. All my long flight times are based on sea level altitude, so I do not expect the same flight times when a flying in the thinner air up high in the mountains.

Flight Times

Since this quad is very similar to my other 7" quad, I would only assume I would get the same flight times. Just to be sure, I did a test and cruised around the park for max flight time in 13mph wind / 29 mph gusts. Even with the high winds, I was able to get 26:26 minutes of flight time with MOLICEL 21700 P42A 4200mah 6S Lithium-Ion battery pack. The DVR footage is shown below. I included both the GoPro 7 and DJI footage to prove the flight times. I am pretty sure no one is going to watch this boring video, but please scrub through it to get an idea of the cruising speed.

It looks like it just fits without any modification since it mounts to standoffs. I bought it but dont think ill be using it with my S1 build.

@Silverwing you do not need to remix the cage if you the original standoffs. But if you use a standoff shorter than 25mm, then you will need to remix the cage.

70% Throttle limit caps off the last 30% of your throttle. When you choose "scale" as the throttle limit type, it will distribute the 70% throughout the full span of the throttle stick. Hence you will get more resolution, when normally you will lose the last 30% of travel that we would not use. It will be like having motors around 1300kv range. It did not feel overly sensitive, with the throttle. I like these motors because it gives me options to adapt to different flight conditions and even use 4s batteries.

Ever since the release of BF 4.2.X you do not need to tune much at all. I add some screen shots of the changes I did in betaflight. The presets you enter in CLI plus the filter setting and bidirection dshot, it does wonders.
