Sub 300g 5" Source Two racer

Been flying a Source One 5" for quite some time now and I got interested in racing more and more. Since a boxed frame kinda locks you into a more special kind of flight style (heh), I decided to go with something inbetween. The Source Two is a lightweight frame (~70g) that is easy to get here in case of any broken parts and that fits all other components pretty well.

The Immortal T mount is for 30x30 standoffs but worked pretty well for the 20x20 as well once the antenna was mounted.

The TBS Unify pro32 comes with a special 20x20 mounting plate. Due to the connectors on the FC, I would have to use longer M2 screws + standoffs. So instead I decided to create my own 3D printed PLA mount to screw the mounting plate onto. I've used the same mount on my 3" build and was pretty happy about it. On this build I had way more space which came in quite handy building this.

2021-09-23 update
I did some upgrades/changes since I wanted to use the ESC on another build and the ESC's amp rating is quite close to the motor's max amp draw. I moved the antenna from the TPU mount to an arm and replaced my 3D-printed mount for the TBS unify/Nano RX plate with some plastic standoffs.

The Mamba Race F60 ESC has a 20x20 mount, but the screws don't go through it, but is mounted to the bottom plate while the stack is screwed into the ESC from the top.

I kept the old images for anyone who's interested.

Full tilt battery killer. Props in view? Simply increase cam angle.

props and even motors in view depending on the angle. props somewhat disappear depending on the angle which is around 55°

WIth that much space for the VTX, I would have recommended just running a cheaper VTX (AKK Race or similar), and just VHB taping it to the top plate, call it good enough

almost all components could be replaced with cheaper ones tbh. I'm a fan of the TBS stuff and the ability for each component talk to each other. The pro would've worked just fine, but the pro32 adds that extra mounting plate.

Ah - on those ones, I just get the stack top plates and VHB stuff straight to it - not the prettiest, but works, forgot about that sizing mismatch on the TBS Pros

AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..

With the release of the DJI FPV Drone cinematic FPV has become a lot more accessible, but you certainly don't want to crash a $750 drone! The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..
