This is my third Vista build and I continue to be blown away by the exerperience! For this one, I wanted to create a super light aircraft in the 150-160g AUW range. I had originally planned to retro one of my TP3's with a Naked Vista however I consulted Bob Roogi and others and they thought the additional 20grams on the 1303 FPVcycle motors might be too much for my flying style. So I started from scratch with a little inspiration from the TorqueFPV Hornet.

I decided on a LeDrone frame by my friend Alex and he helped make a few modifications to suit my needs. I then had Nick Heppner at CNCmadness do a premium cut with chamfers. I chose the Flywoo David Cledon motors in the high KV version for a quick and light 3S setup.

The tricky part of this build was decasing the Vista unit. I had never done that before and it took a bit to figure out. As most know, when you make a choice to decase the Vista, your void your warranty so this was a $150 camera/ vtx risk. After lots of consulting on how best to do this operation, I removed the case, cleaned the thermal paste, and wired the two Vista boards together. I used 3-4 layers of liquid tape to keep the camera cable plug on the board. I also had to drill out the outside holes of the two 'naked' Vista boards to be able to accommodate the m2 FC mounting screws.

Bottom Line: This thing is amazing! I'm so happy with the flight characteristics and have zero issues with overheating on 500mW. (50 flights so far) Flying a micro on HD is the best!

UPDATE 10.30.20: I now have over 100 flights on the naked Vista with no issue. I almost think it stays cooler without the case. I also decided to change out the stock DJI Lens with a RunCam RC18G FPV Super FOV Lens. It's a wider FOV and gives me a more natural feel for freestyle. I heated the lens with a heat gun and then used a hobby knife to seperate the glue from the lens and housing. It was not easy but I really like the results. Pictures included below. The only other change was settling on the HQ T3x2.5x3 props that brought a new level of performance. Very happy with this build!

AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..

With the release of the DJI FPV Drone cinematic FPV has become a lot more accessible, but you certainly don't want to crash a $750 drone! The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..
