HD Hyperlite Floss 2.1 w/ Caddx Vista - BF4.2.5 - 6s

The build has changed a lot since I first started. Initially, this quad had 2205 2450kv motors to keep the weight of the quad low. Since I am moving all my quads to 6s, I will need to update this quad too. I guess this was a perfect opportunity for this upgrade because the current FC or ESC is dead. Initially I thought it was the 4in1 ESC because I kept getting errors when connecting to the Blheli 32 Suite, but the FC might be the source of the problem. When I switched out the ESC with an Aikon AK32 4in1 ESC I was having the same problem, the quad would not arm. I would get the initial ESC tones but not the last 2. After I switched out the FC, everything is working fine. So, now I need to go back and test if the original ESC is okay. Long story short, the only thing left that is unchanged is the Caddx Vista and the frame itself. Everything else has been swapped out for something different.

I do not know if anyone has tried this before, but I wanted to mimic the hybrid idea like the Floss 3, where you have a different front and read arm configuration. For this build I used the Floss 2.1 boomerang arms in the front and Floss 2.0 individual arms in the rear. It might be difficult to notice in the pictures but the from arms are shorter and narrower and the rear are wider and longer. The idea of this hybrid setup is to gets rid of the dirty air to the rear props and provides better cornering. Since I do not race, I plan to use this frame as a lightweight freestyle quad. That is why I added the brace to the front and rear arms. The nice thing about the Floss 2.1 boomerang arms is that you can use the Floss 3 brace, but there is no brace for the Floss 2.0 arms. I still wanted a brace for the rear arms too, so I took a Floss 2.1 brace and made it fit. If you take a close look at the image gallery below you can see the rear brace is not centered and I drilled a new hole to make it work. I am not sure if it will make a difference, but it seems strong when I grab both brace and try to twist the frame. I am not sure who made or designed the braces I used, because I bought all this stuff as a lot on facebook marketplace.

Here is a link to some good info on 4.2 tuning notes:

Followed some of Josh Bardwell's Tips
I was getting some prop wash so I followed some of his suggestions in his youtube video:

  • Increased filter silders to 1.2 (he went to 2.0 but I only tested to 1.2 so far)
  • Turn off D Min
  • Increased PD Balance to 1.2

AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..

With the release of the DJI FPV Drone cinematic FPV has become a lot more accessible, but you certainly don't want to crash a $750 drone! The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..
