It was time for something different. I love building the MRM225 frame, but I have been looking for a pure-X style frame to see what all the fuss is about. MultiRotorMania just released their new Santoku line of frames, all which are designed specifically with the Connex HD system in mind. There are three versions of the Santoku. A 230mm X for 5" props, a 5" stretched X version & a 255mm pure-X for 6" props. I chose the 230mm for 5" props, and I intend on using a traditional 5.8GHz FPV system instead of the fancy Connex HD.

Fitting the parts are a breeze with all of the extra space inside. It does not matter which vTX you choose, or receiver. You can fit it all inside this frame. For this build I used a basic PDB with a 5V & 12V BEC, and to keep things ultra-tidy I picked the F3 Omnibus so I can still have my O.S.D without any of that extra wiring or hardware. The build went hassle free and is awaiting its maiden flight & tuning session. I will follow up with some more of my thoughts on the Pure-X versus a H-style frame after I get a few flights in.

AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..

With the release of the DJI FPV Drone cinematic FPV has become a lot more accessible, but you certainly don't want to crash a $750 drone! The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..
