X-Frame Racer with HD Video Camera! My latest Micro FPV Race Drone with the Caddx Tarsier V2 HD camera which allows me to capture HD video AND at the same time have great FPV video real-time during flight with minimal latency. This is the lightest weight dual-stack X-frame I could find. Not many out there. Acrobrat frame is 8g heavier. H-frames and Compressed-X frames I find are good for freestyle and slow, cinematic flights. I prefer X-frames, stretch-X, or hybrid-X for more "racing-style" flights. Wanted an "HD Racer." Reduced stock frame weight by drilling holes in plates hwere I could without adversely affecting structural integrity. Also replaced purple M3 standoffs with orange M2 standoffs (same length). AUW is 248g with 650 maH Lipo. Over 260g with 850g Lipo. Connector protruding from top plate is for a GPS receiver. Connector seen at rear of quad is for ViFly V2 buzzer. GPS & Vifly buzzer add another 10g or so of weight (so I made them "plug n play" for when I need them). Used these "cinematic" F1507, 3800 Kv motors. Smooth (for HD video), yet powerful. Not the most efficient. I get about 4 minutes flight time with about a 45 deg camera angle and not taking it easy. You could get more out of them if you're just cruising around with a lower camera angle. I also use soft motor mounts to decrease any potential vibrations. Don't know if they're necessary for this setup or not since I didn't try it without them first. I'm pretty darn happy with this build as is. Great HD (especially with ND8 filter) and FPV video, nice power, handling, and speed. Frame is very durable. Could probably cut some more weight down by using thinner carbon fiber in some areas. Wish more manufacturers made dual-stack X, stretch-X, and hybrid frames! Anyone listening?!?

AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..

With the release of the DJI FPV Drone cinematic FPV has become a lot more accessible, but you certainly don't want to crash a $750 drone! The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..
