I always wanted to build a 5 inch hexacopter because why not? :) It's the first version, could be better but to first try I very happy with it. The arms are the cheapest 6mm arms what I found, the center parts are custom cutted carbon plates. The camera, antenna, esc mounts, and the arm holders between the carbon plates are 3d printed pla parts. The dry weight is 655 gram, with an 1300mha 6s battery it flies about 3.5-4 minutes. I really live it with the betaflight 4.1 with rpm filter. I hope you will like it.

I absolutely love the square-ness of the body, as a whole it looks brilliant! Always fun seeing a hex, makes me want to design one myself.

wowww ive only see very few TOP MOUNTED hexacopters!! whats it like...is it better than bottom mount?

The problem was the middle arms, it would have been complicated to fit the battery straps, and I didn't want another carbon layer just for that. Btw I prefer the bottom mounted batteries, I think it's better for handling.

I am super glad to hear BF4 works well for you on a 6 rotor! Mad props for building your own!

This is fantastic. And the most angular build I have ever seen! :-) Can it carry a GoPro or similar?

Thank you! :D Yes this is the plan but I haven't designed it yet. It has enought space between the props to fit a hero7-8 :)

AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..

With the release of the DJI FPV Drone cinematic FPV has become a lot more accessible, but you certainly don't want to crash a $750 drone! The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..
