I recently acquired the new DJI FPV System, I didn't mean to, but my hand was forced, honest. And so this is my first build, done whilst waiting for "official" Air Unit capable frames to arrive; an iFlight XL5-v4, retrofitted with a bunch of TPU bits.

It's quite a tall frame to start with, so fitting in the stack and Air Unit was tight but didn't require any modifications beyond flipping the rotor arms under the bottom plate - the build was surprisingly easy. This was helped by using the Holybro Kakute F7 HDV stack, which is truly plug and play with the DJI gear. It makes the build far too clean and easy, I'm almost embarrassed, almost...

The props are in view of course, but are down in the lower third, which is fine. And on 5S this machine flies so nicely, quick and snappy, and the DJI kit is little short of spectacular, it makes flying a whole new experience.

Do you remember what length hardware you ended up needing for the stack after flipping the arms? I have printed all of your files and am getting ready to do the conversion.

Oh excellent! I hope it works out for you, I really like mine! And yes, with the arms on the outside, it's basically the same as the arms on the inside, so I used 25mm stack bolts. That then gives enough space for the Air Unit + TPU tray, and a few extra mm on top to get a battery strap on the top plate.

Hi, how high are the new dividers?

Hello. If by that you mean the standoffs, they are the same height as those that were shipped with the frame, 32mm. :-)

Nice build! Do you happen to have links to the TPU parts btw? Thank you.

Thank you! I was pleased with how it came together. And yes, I do, I have uploaded the relevant TPU parts to Thingiverse, you can find them here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3914134

AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..

With the release of the DJI FPV Drone cinematic FPV has become a lot more accessible, but you certainly don't want to crash a $750 drone! The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..
