This is a build that I finished last month that I did not plan to write anything about it because it takes a bit of work to do this. Not to be selfish but I mainly do this so I can log all my builds and see what hardware are in them. It has been only a month and I totally forgot what I used for this build. I do not even remember that motors I used, I had to look them up.

Originally this quad was a 4S setup with Hypetrain Blaster 2207 2450kv motors, then I picked up a used set of XING 2207 1800kv motors from a guy on Facebook. As we all know, it is a hit or miss when you buy used stuff online. The first problem is that it took him over a week to ship the motors. When I asked for a refund the seller told me this:

“Na bro, I got 3 days to ship and it's only been 2 if the weekend don't count. I ain't gonna screw you, I already printed the label I just got to drop it off in the morning.”

It took him another 3 days before he sent me an image of the shipping recipe. The funny things is that the acceptance date on the recipe clearly proves he was lying.
When I finially received the package, the motors are not what he claimed:

“I pulled them all apart and cleaned the bell with rubbing alcohol and blew the coils out good. Bearings all spin well.”

2 of the 4 motors are binding because it was full of junk inside. I was able to take clean one of the motors, but the 2nd motor kept rubbing. After switching the motors bells around with different motors, I found a combination where they all spin freely. In the end, I was able to get the motors working. But him lying about shipping and the condition of the motors, really annoyed me. One last thing, one of the motors has a bent motor screw hole where I can not even get a screw through it. I have had a few XING motors in the past, and if I can fix them, it will run like a champ. Sure enough, it was a beast of a motor. It might not look pretty but it performs very well.

The 4s version of this build I had a different camera mount that required me to use 6” front arms, which makes the quad as regular 6” quad and not a hybrid setup. This time around, I used another camera mount that was designed for a Floss 2 frame. So, now I can set up this frame as a hybrid again, with the 5” arms in the front and 6” arms in the rear. The main advantage with this configuration is to “get rid of the dirty air to the rear props and provides amazing cornering.”

I also tried to lighten up this build by switching out the DJI Air Unit with a Caddx Vista. This might sound like a stupid idea, but I wanted to use this as a freestyle quad, so I hope the front and rear brace will help support the tiny arms. The GoPro7 mount is at 20 degrees because I will be flying it slower for freestyle flights. Even at 20 degrees you do NOT see the props in the GoPro's view at 4K 60FPS Wide.

AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..

With the release of the DJI FPV Drone cinematic FPV has become a lot more accessible, but you certainly don't want to crash a $750 drone! The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..
