This is by no means a professional tiny whoop video, I'm fighting gusty winds and the tune is pretty bad, so watch at your own risk :D

How cheap can you build a tiny whoop for?

I set out to build a very cheap brushed whoop (this is in fact my FIRST self built whoop!) to see if I could get it flying as well as my UK65 Pro. The criterion were simple - Betaflight OSD, solid pin connectors to reduce voltage sag, and a decent flight time. Had an 0716 frame lying around so I just decided to use that, and got a simple 10 degree TPU canopy printed off Thingiverse, link below. I flashed the latest non 4.0 version of Betaflight (3.5.7) and it flies just OKAY indoors on the Project Mockingbird brushed PIDS. Once the wind starts blowing it's screwed.

The importance of solid-pin PH2.0.

I cannot emphasise this enough. I literally destroyed six BetaFPV 300mah flying hard with those stupid hollow pins that get so hot. That, together with HV charging, are surefire ways to murder 1S LiPos. It probably makes sense to only HV charge when you fly in a tiny whoop race. Otherwise, 4.2V should do just fine for me. These pins get me more than 30 seconds more flight time anyway, and you can see the voltage hovers around 3.4V for most of the flight instead of straightaway just dying at 3.1V.

The final price

The frame was free. I got $6 of coupons that aren't listed below so the final price shipping included ended up being 46USD. I'd say that's a pretty good price! :D

Hey, nice build! Btw, you know you could have gone $15 cheaper if you used a Silverware brushed flight controller - $10 and the tune is perfect for these 716 brushed motors out of the box. You lose OSD, but who cares, fly until you dont have punch in your motors anymore and then you know its time to come back!

That's a good point. Thanks for sharing! Wish I had known about Silverware earlier!

AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..

With the release of the DJI FPV Drone cinematic FPV has become a lot more accessible, but you certainly don't want to crash a $750 drone! The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..
