I wanted to explore this 3inch category with a toothpick type build. I needed some motors that are powerful enough to swing a 3inch prop and still provided a decent flight time. People are using 1206 1304 1404 motors which is nice but I wanted to stay as light as possible. I also wanted to be able to use a small 3s battery and still get a good flight time. The RDQ 350mah is a battery of choice. So I ended up trying the emax 1106 4500kv motors. This ended up being a really good choice of motor paired up with the avan 3in triblade prop. Coming in with a dry weight of 74grams which is pretty light for a 3in and having super smooth efficient flights. This quad flies amazing and is the most silent quad I have ever flown also the flight times are excellent with the 4500kv motors. I think we are going to see a lot of these builds with 1206 1304 1404 motors in the future. I am happy with a 1106 because the amount of thrust it can provide along with still being a tiny motor. This is a awesome freestyle setup and is great for backyard ripping.

If you are looking for a toothpick like frame for your motors taco rc has a pickle 3in frame that supports 9mm and 12mm mounting patterns. Don't know what frame you are looking for are what u are trying to build but thought that might help. Also the Sanchez frame supports 12mm mounting pattern but the one from taco rc is pretty much the same. good luck

Thanks Jeremy. I initiated a return via Amazon. It was a mistake. I found 5 of the 1106's (as I originally wanted) and have them on order. Live and learn. lol

AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..

With the release of the DJI FPV Drone cinematic FPV has become a lot more accessible, but you certainly don't want to crash a $750 drone! The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..
