why for try tri .TRY Y4.
Why dont we see more tri copters.
I think the answer is obvious.
But any how a Y4 quadcopter fits the same footprint flies like a quad and without a servo to complicate the mix .

How does she fly? I hear stacking motors like your tail section robs you of some thrust (I've heard the 30% less idea a few times). I assume the lower tail rotor is getting some pretty choppy air, do you notice anything wierd when you are flying?
I think hands down you have the best creations ever - the name kwadkenstine is spot on. I'm just waiting for somebody to quad up a Japanese sexbot. It's gonna happen.
Good evening gentlemen. I have been on this site for quite some time. This is my first post .I'm posting to say only this. Quadstar and Kwadkenstine are truly people after my own heart. Your work is tremendous the both of you. If it's ok with you both I'll PM you soon with some of my own ideas? Peace and Love
AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..

The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..

So I do have to ask, as really, you are the fellow to ask. I believe you've seen this: https://rotorbuilds.com/build/22212 which is completely inspired by this Y4 build of yours. And I see you say the yaw was squirrely, but was it spinning out in just one direction like mine have been? And if not, I wonder what your secret is (other than sheer, bonkers willpower to make flying monsters)? Any insights? I'd be very grateful...
Hi, mine flew fine a little tail happy in both directions.
run props( in )BF motor layout, top motor rear motor 1 prop spin same direction as motor 4 , bottom motor No 3 spin prop same as no 2 . Dont forget if you invert a motor you dont invert the prop and you will have to change its direction in motor configitor or swap wiring hope this helps
Thank you! But yes, I've got all that stuff right. Unfortunately... coz that means it's something else, and much more obscure. Ugh.
If you have a dead esc or motor , a y will still fly , just wont yaw that way and will feel under powered
I got my Y4 flying! I can barely believe it. I reversed all of the motor directions so the front motors spin outwards now, and flicked the slider in BF, and bingo, it flies just fine. And yes, mine's a bit skiddy at the back in certain circumastances, and definitely not an acro beast, but a nice smooth cruiser. I quite like it. Thanks for your help again. Much obliged! :-)
Props in or out all the same to me. maby it just needed love!!, super glad you got it working
Haha! You might be right, just a little TLC, and it was good to go ;-)
