so the geprc hummingbird that I won in a giveaway was having massive video noise issues. There just wasn't any space to put a cap within the frame. I did get one to fit between vtx and the back of the camera and it was connected to the vbat and gnd pins on the vtx. It only helped a little but still unflyable at throttle positions higher than 60 percent.

On to hunting for a new frame. I only had one requirement, it must be a top mount. A few frames that were in the runner up - the BandoRacer BR2.5, the AirbladUAV intrepid v2 2.5" and the RotoriousFPV CB2.5. I've seen the ix2 2.5 before and love the form factor. It's been out for a while and turns out in the latter half of 2018 they released a V3! Funny thing though, no reviews on this frame. not a mention. Even here on rotor builds, there are a few V3 builds but upon closer inspection, they are all the V2. I went for it as it is economical and from my experience, iFlight carbon is quality stuff.

Three differences with the V3 compared to the V2 - it is lighter by 3 grams. I weighed my assembled frame (didnt' take a picture of it, should have) at 24g and the v2 is 27g on paper. Second, the carbon is cut along the weave... massive difference. This frame is SO STIFF, really difficult to flex it. And finally the arms are in a hybrid X stance - front motors are slightly further apart than the rear ones.

The transplant from the geprc hummingbird PNP was quick except for the wire extensions. That was tedious.
The micro eagle lens doesn't fit between the front standoffs so I switched it out to a Caddx Ratel

Maiden coming soon...hopefully the video noise has been zapped by the 470uf low ESR cap I added.

Got 1.5 packs in before getting it stuck in a tree and breaking a prop so I was grounded.
Warning, RAW footage so hit that mute button!

AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..

With the release of the DJI FPV Drone cinematic FPV has become a lot more accessible, but you certainly don't want to crash a $750 drone! The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..
