the video is absolute gold, i think you should try gopro7 hypersmooth for sure

Thanks a lot, I don't fly very well but it's still nice to get some nice shots :) I've switched to a Runcam split now to save weight, but I can't manage to get a clean FPV feed :(

I'm looking at a very similar build to this but as a complete noob I have doubts about using those 24A ESC's with the motors and props you have chosen. Everywhere I look I see that the combination you have (and I also want) will be drawing over 30AMP's at 100% but the KISS ESC's cap at 30amps. Should I be concerned at this? Obviously i won't go to 100% at all times but when I do, I want my ESC's to handle it if I have the hardware capable to do so?

EDIT: I see you are using 3S batteries which may make this comment redundant. Do you intend to use 4S at any point and if so would you upgrade the ESC's?

Thanks for the help!

Hello Mogs,
I'm a bit of a newbie myself so I probably didn't make the best choices on this first real build...
I'm sorry I can't be of more help, please do tell me if you end up finding I should upgrade the ESCs when I do switch to 4S.
Right now, I'm still learning to fly so I don't often punch the throttle, so no trouble so far... Fingers crossed.

Thanks for the reply. Fair enough. I think I might be wrong anyhow. I think I found that the tools used to measure the pull and amperage of these motors actually use ~30% less amps in a real world scenario. I could be totally wrong of course :)

What kind of flight time do you get out of this build? My biggest concern now is that all my calculations tell me that I won't get much more than 3minutes! I'd ideally at least want to gun for 7!

Thanks again!

Sorry, I missed your reply.
Flight time is around 4 minutes (I don't fly very agressively yet).

how is the gui set up? nice build!

Benn   Mar 03, 2017

Hello Fulldawwg,
Thanks :) I'm happy how it turned out :)
Concerning the Evolution/Kiss situation, I selected S-BUS in the evolution, and "Futaba S-BUS" in the GUI :
I just had to fiddle around with the subtrim and endpoints in the evolution to get everything going from 1000 to 2000 and have the neutral at 1500.
Tell me if this helps.

Thanks for the tip. I'm setting the kiss fc aside for now until I can get more time to fiddle with it but I'm also getting the kiss all in one for my 3 minutes much build, which I really want to get running once I receive it so I will dedicate more time into configuring that.

Did some troubleshooting. Still couldn't get S-Bus or I-Bus to work but PPM works no problem.

Just finished this up? Might want to update your description. How does it perform?

Hmm, not sure what to suggest. Check your solders? Sorry, but I don't have any experience with KISS.

Benn   Feb 19, 2017

I've sent the FC back, hopefully the next one will be fine ☺

Benn   Feb 26, 2017

Maidened it today, it flies great (as far as hovering for a few seconds in concerned :) )

Be carefull, your motors will be drawing to much amps from this poor tiny lipo.

I highly recomand you to get lipo with a bigger capactity, at least 1300mAh.the 850mAh won't be able to provide the current needed and there a risk for them to die in a few cycles.

Benn   Feb 21, 2017

That's my bad, I had selected the wrong one, I did go for the 1300mAh, I've made the correction. Thanks for your keen eye :)

Unless you've got a compelling reason to go with KISS you might as well opt for a cheaper Betaflight solution. I like the Omnibus F3 and will be using it on my current build. And if you're going with red bottoms you might as well get the upgraded RS2205S version.

Benn   Dec 07, 2016

Those are the items I've already bought :) I only found rotorbuilds yesterday.
I found a deal with the ESCs and the FC for 123€, and a set of 4 redbottoms for 70€ so I went for it. Was I very wrong? :)

You'll be just fine. They're all proven components.

AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..

With the release of the DJI FPV Drone cinematic FPV has become a lot more accessible, but you certainly don't want to crash a $750 drone! The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..
