Well, hello there

So, I posted about this monster a while back and I just wanted to show you guys how I've turned it into a proper Freestyle build that's enjoyable to fly (Spoiler: I've done that by replacing every last bit).

First of all I used a different Flight controller (the SPRacing F3 Neo), which is a lot easier to build with its integrated PDB and neat layout.
It's utterly useless without soft mounting as I found out later, didn't know it was 100% mandatory, but not a big deal after I found that out.
I can tell you it does perform really well, even though it doesn't seem to be a popular choice and has 'only' an F3 processor. Also the SD Blackbox is just amazing for tuning and stick overlay and figuring out current draw... very useful!

Then I got me some good motors.
Okay, not high end, but for this price I'm very satisfied since none arrived damaged or unbalanced and they do have quite some punch (kinda limited by my 20A ESCs).
I chose 2207, because I heard from Kabab FPV (Bob) and Joshua Bardwell they both prefer 2207 over 2306 and since those guys' opinion means quite a lot to me I chose that.
Then 2600kv, because my first quad is a Vortex 230 with way slower motors and I really hate flying low pitch props on that one. In the sim I figured out the setup I like best is (pretty standard) about 550-650g, 2500+kv (also Bob's recommendation), 4S, 5" on 5x4.3x3 HQ Props.

One of my ESCs died, aw. After some research (I admit it, I asked on reddit) I figured I could just replace it with one of those. Works fine.
After seeing some thrust tests, 20A is a bit low, I recommend something more like 30A, but it didn't explode yet.

I've got myself a Foxeer Predator Micro V3, because 1000TVL seemed pretty good, and it had an integrated OSD (the FC doesn't, so this is what I use for now), low latency, couple of settings and most importantly the blue fits the motor color. (Also micro size = low weight = good)

Bob recommended a VTX03.
It works just fine, I'm getting pretty good reception, 200mW is nice and it's light and small.
Note to self: Don't ever again get anything with a UFL.

wanna see it fly?

Any chance you could tell me exactly which blheli_s firmware target is on the lites model of esc? Raceflight wiped out the stock flash and I have no idea what to reflash them with. Thanks

AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..

With the release of the DJI FPV Drone cinematic FPV has become a lot more accessible, but you certainly don't want to crash a $750 drone! The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..
