Shendrones Gordo - Fruity Oh LaLa

When starting a new build, usually I start with the propeller size first. . Shendrones Gordo 220mm Frame however.. is like the super slim jack of all trades kind of frame. This baby is a stretch X and can fit 5" 5.5" or 6" props. Want to race, use 5" props.. Want to cruise.. drop a battery cell, add some mah, and go with a 6" propeller for longer range.

Andy also has a true X version available but it only fits 5" props.

This particular build was designed to run with 5.5" propellers and 1800kv motors as a freestyle cruiser, building / mountain diver, and occasional racer. Using 6S 1300 mah or 1500mah packs, it has tons of power for the weight, but excellent efficiency if you nurse the throttle.

Color is fun! My last Gordo I built as a racer, and it was all black, no beeper, and it's impossible to see in bad spots.. I also used 15mm standoffs in that build and a Unify Nano, so it was super compact in there. The Gordo does not have a ton of room in the stack with 20mm standoffs coming standard. Since this was intended to be capable of longer range I needed higher VTX output, and decided to keep the standard 20mm standoffs for extra cooling room. I got a little crazy with color on my motor wires, and the Pyro Race Light Racewires glow purple. Love em!

I've lately been using a lot of HelioSpring boards, but this build is so tight there wouldn't be room for 3 boards (ESC, VTX/RX, FC). So, i decided to try the new Synergy F4 by Kelvin Lee at Whitenoise FPV. Which has a spot for Rx and Unify VTX, with a built in VTX power switch. All I can say is wow, such a cool product.. Man! So clean.. super functional. Really love it.

Antennas.. on my last Gordo I used a stubby Axii because i was just racing. On a recent trip to Colorado I flew a 4" Shendrones Tweaker I did awhile back and had horrible RSSI drops accross a baseball field, and realized my antenna was just mounted terribly. So I came up with a vertical antenna mount to solve that build, and needed something similar for Gordo.

So I used parts from Andy's designs on thingiverse and several different immortal T mounts I modified, including an SMA mount I clipped from SmittyFPV's StudsPod (Thanks! :D ) Had to iterate a couple versions to find appropriate angles on each part to clear the props, hold the Immortal T high enough to not be squished by the battery, provide adequate spacing from the carbon, and angled enough as to not touch each other. Printed in Semiflex green to absorb impacts. Time will tell if it holds up as well as I hope it does.

Hero mount is a combination of materials Yellow is Ninjaflex, all other colors except Yellow are a more rigid TPU/SemiFlex.
25 degree mount, but I am printing a smiliar color patterned 37 degree mount as I type this.

Long range Axii tops it off. Excited to send it!

AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..

With the release of the DJI FPV Drone cinematic FPV has become a lot more accessible, but you certainly don't want to crash a $750 drone! The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..
