Loflo with lots of love

My first build was a 5 inch chameleon which i threw together with random parts to just get in the air. I knew my next one would be a 6 inch cruiser with big motors and generally more refined. So i set out cruising rotor builds and come across the craftquads loflo and i was set. However it turns out this frame is usually sold out. I emailed the maker and he notified me at his next batch release date and i bought it right away even though i would not build it for months.
This frame is just great looking and made of thick carbon with thoughtful touches like the way the arms interlock while sandwiched between 2 plates with 2 screws each. Pretty much removable arms dont get more solid than this. As a result i get no oscillations through the body when i drop the trottle. Although i do have everything soft monted with a brand new kiss v2 but id like to think the frame helps too. They aslo give you a buch of nice looking ti hardware. The battery is toilet tank mounted but ive had no issues with that. Seems like it should be more balanced but no long batteries.
When putting it all together i had to be thoughtful of how to fit the rx tx and osd in the boot but managed to get it all back there with room on top for the vtx to breathe. I mounted the fc with the soft standoffs and they just fit. At first i thought it might be a little high but turned out to be just right once i filled up the void between fc and pdb with wires. I got a piggy osd since theyre already flashed for kiss and require no setup but there was no room behind the camera so i ended up putting that in the back.
As far as the components go, i love kiss v2. It seems all my movements are a little rounded off and refined. Also all the solder pads are on top so now you can just mount it and plug everything in without having to do one side then the other like v1. The escs seem fine. Ive had issues running the 24 amps on my 5 inch with them lighting on fire when maxxed but i havent really pushed these yet. Geuss ill find out when i go 6s
Tmotor f80 pro 2200kv is also a great call. Kinda heavy but the pro version with naked bottom shaves a few grams off. They're just all the power right away and super smooth. Cant wait to put them on 6s.
The lumenier 4power+ pdb is great with signal pads and filtered 5 and 10v pads. 2 each. However the xt60 that comes with it is no good. My battery lead fell out on my maiden and i fell out of the sky very confused. I have since swithched to a pigtail. I think it has ftering too. I have caps on all escs but i. think i get extra clarity using the 10v pad for my vtx. My chameleon has 5 of the same caps but vtx off the batt and gets way more noise when i punch it. This thing is crystal clear at max throttle.
As far as cameras go im a runcam guy but to each his own. I feel like this camera is sharper than my eagle 2 pro from a year ago on my other rig but im pretty sure theyre the same. Probably just settings and a fresh lense. Also a side note, you definitely gotta chage to the single hole case to fit the eagle 2 in to this build.
Another side note is the matek tail light does not seem to work with kiss. At least not with the regular led pad or maybe im missing something. The leds in the front work fine and are adjustable but i tried the din and pwm pads to the led pad and no dice. So im just letting it be default solid yellow for now. Probably just gonna get plain buzzer soon and scrap the tail light
I think thats about it. I love this rig and i put lots of time making it look good and choosing the right parts to make it the drone version of a muscle car. Just need to level up to 6s but all the components are ready for it. I think this frame is one of the classiest around and id highly recommended it. Like i said just email the guy at craft quads and hell let you know when hes got them in. Happy flying

How are your flight times with this setup? Looking at the same motor/prop combo for my reverb. Good looking build!

I use that tail light. You have to long press the button (till it beeps at you), then a few more clicks (pretty much randomly, try different combinations). That PROBABLY won't work the first time, but try it again 3-10 times (roughly) and you should have a working, programmable, rgb led taillight. I wish I had an actual button sequence for you, but both of mine have just required me fiddling with them for a while. They do work though (the instructions are not very helpful, it's DEFINITLY not how they describe it). Use the din wire for your signal.

AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..

With the release of the DJI FPV Drone cinematic FPV has become a lot more accessible, but you certainly don't want to crash a $750 drone! The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..
