MaximusFPV Byte Size (2" Stretch X)

REMEMBER THE MODULUS 65?
Well this is him now. Feel old yet?
Jokes aside, I basically just got sick of spending my life savings on 40mm props that either fell apart after one crash or just flew like crap. This Anubis deserves so much more.
So I sat down with my laptop and spent about 15 minutes in Fusion 360 drawing up a little 2" stretch X. Why? Because I have loads of 2" props, specifically these Cyclones (they're backups for when I run out of HQs) and I've never flown a stretch before so I said "hey, why not?" After that, I spent a couple of days designing little accessories for it, like scuff guards that print around the frame à la Andy Shen, different camera mounts, and other little stuff just for fun.

THE BUILD
This was refreshingly simple, actually. I just lengthened the wires on my motors from the Modulus and then dropped everything else right in after giving it a healthy coat of conformal coating. Pretty simple.

OTHER STUFF
Stretch X is a totally new beast for me. This is the first time I've ever messed with different pitch and roll rates (super rates, to be more precise) but it's actually pretty fun. The idea for me is to make it feel like the true X I'm used to wile having the benefits of a stretch. Either way, I do like having something a bit different for a change.
This frame is available for free down in the parts list because I'm too lazy to sell it. I made a Thingiverse page with all the accessories and a DXF so you can cut your own frame. All the accessories are for a 2mm frame which I recommend for a lighter setup like mine. 3mm can be used for 1104 motors or 3S (if any stacks this size even support it).

I just thought I'd share what my Byte Size frame has morphed into. I whipped up a 3D printed adapter to use a Mobula7 board, and a couple of different camera mounts for AIO units. The one currently on it is a Wolfwhoop WT05 with DVR, which makes for some decent footage at a 4g weight penalty over a regular one. It's a total blast! Oh, and since it's part Mobula and part Byte Size, I've named it "One Mo Byte" :)

Here's a video from the other day. Nothing super exciting, I'm still learning (and flying with a new radio too).

AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..

With the release of the DJI FPV Drone cinematic FPV has become a lot more accessible, but you certainly don't want to crash a $750 drone! The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..
