Armattan Rooster 6"

This is my second Rooster build and I wanted to try a few things differently. The first thing I wanted to do is to make it lighter buy using lighter components, titanium screws and less 3D printed parts. The next thing is the power cable, I will hard mount the XT60 plug so I do not have to worry about it getting cut. And Finally, the placement of the ESC. With my first Rooster build I had a prop strike and it almost took out the ESC. After building a Ummagawd Remix I really like the idea of having the ESC on the bottom side of the arms and that is what I did with the Rooster. Unlike the Remix frame the Rooster does not have chamfered edges on the carbon fiber, so I had to take each arm and file off the sharp edges. It is very important you do that because if you try wrapping the wires around the arms, over time it will most likely cut in the wires and create a short.

To hard mount the XT60 I will do the same thing as I did with the Chameleon and attached to the rear standoff. In order to do this, you will need a 3D printed VTX antenna mount, replace the original aluminum rear mount with a 20mm standoff and XT60 with a 5mm mounting post hole.

My original build ends up weighing 413g and now the second build is 386g. But the build is creeping up in weight because I am still changing and adding more stuff to it. 386g is not the lightest 6-inch Rooster but it is still better than 413g.

Just as a precaution I used Fiber Grip to keep the arms from moving. It is a past that you put around any carbon fiber plates that you do NOT want to move around. If you want to try this stuff, it is cheaper to get it at your local bike shop, but I included an amazon link below, so you can see exactly what I am taking about. Since I finished my build Armattan and come out with a spacer you can use to lock the arms in place. I have not needed to use them yet because Fiber Grip has been working for me.

Update (Sep 03, 2018): I wanted a little more umph out of these lower KV 2150kv motors so I moved to a 5s Setup. Check out my updated build here:

AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..

With the release of the DJI FPV Drone cinematic FPV has become a lot more accessible, but you certainly don't want to crash a $750 drone! The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..
