AirBlade Eclair V2 3 inch LITE

After breaking the arm from the AirBlade Eclair V2 2.5 I needed another frame to move all my electronics. So, I decided to move from a 2.5 inch prop to the larger 3 inch. Other than switch to a lower KV motor and 4s lipo everything transferred over very easily. It is not necessary to change motors and lipos when moving to a 3 inch, it was just a design choice because the Higher KV motors and 3s lipo combo is a real battery killer. I have to admit I do not get the same punch as I would with the higher KV motors, but it is still pretty good. To keep the idea of making it “LITE" I removed all the TPU printed stuff (i.e. Arm Guards, Backpack) and believe it or not that was 11g of parts. I guess 85g is not to bad for a 3 inch quad.

Have you had any issues with the 12A esc? I want to transfer from a 2.5inch to a 3 inch and I have a 12A esc. I have asked a few people: some of them say 12A is enough and some say it is definitely not enough. So i have mixed feedback. What do you think?

I think that the answers to your question is true for both. Meaning, 12a is enough for a 2.5" and 3" but it may not be enough for others. There are a lot of variables that will make a huge difference. To name a few:
Motors Size: 1104, 1105, 1106 and etc.
Motor KV: 4000, 6000, 7500, 8000 and etc.
Battery mah: 450, 550, 650, and etc
Weight: How much does your quad weight
Props: 2, 3, 4 blades and pitch
Flying Style: Are you on the throttle at 100% most of the time? Cruiser? And etc…

So, for my setup you see here with a Low KV motor (4000kv) with 4s lipo and light weight build (85g without lipo) and 3-inch props. 12a is works well because the higher voltage with lower KV motor would give you lower amp draw. You might lose a little bit of punch but its is a real battery saver too. You do now need to wait for the batteries to recover like you would for a 7500kv motor with 3s lipos. I am not a racer who is going full throttle all the time I never had any problems with the 12a each. I have used it on 3 different quads so far: Eclair 2.5, Eclair 3 Lite, and Emax Babyhawk R 3”. So far they all work well and never had any problems.

Here is a video of my first flight with this setup. It’s nothing fancy just testing out how it feels. Pay attention to the voltage reading on the OSD and my overall flight time, almost 5 mins.

Thanks so much for such a detailed answer! It really cleared things up!
I have 1106 sunnysky 5500kv motors, and 450mah 4s lipos and I'm planning on useing the same avan props. I think it'll work. Do you think so to?

That sounds like a good combo, Let me know how it turns out. Try to keep your quad as light as possible.

AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..

With the release of the DJI FPV Drone cinematic FPV has become a lot more accessible, but you certainly don't want to crash a $750 drone! The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..
