I originally built an Airblade Cream Puff, when I saw the Eclaire V2 released I couldn't resist. I was one of the early adopters, the first batch allowed the side plates to move, this has since been fixed, for my fix I used o-rings. This year I was inspired by the Baby Hawk R release, and wanted a drone for the backyard. I wanted to solve all the issues with the Cream Puff, I wanted a good camera, osd, full range, a frame to protect equipment. Over time I picked up parts, I decided to take a gamble on the Racerstar motors as they are only rated for 2s, but I thought 7000kv should be ok on 3s. If I were to do it again for a little bit extra, would probably go for the 1105 7500kv by AirBlade which are rebranded DYS motors. For the f4 controller I was able to flash with betaflight 3.3, the OSD was easy to setup, I decided to rotate the board so that the USB port was on the side. The FC and 4 in 1 ESC communicate using the pin connector, so nice not having to solder up the signal wires.
I ran into a big issue with the FC, that is the holes were not big enough for m3 which is what the ESC is setup for. The way I got around it was to take a metal m3 bolt and slowly bore out the hole so that the nylon screws could fit. If I had an m2 bolt instead, I would have used that, I added it to the parts list. For mounting of the receiver, I actually was able to sandwich it between the two boards, and for the vtx I just used some heat shrink to protect it and stuffed in the back, its the perfect width.
After building and flying, I found the battery to be a bit big, I would go for something a bit smaller like a 450mah. It all depends, with the 600mah I was getting great flight times, it just doesn't accelerate as quickly. Overall the Eclair V2 is great, certainly, put a smile on my face when I chased my friend's budget 5 inch build and was able to keep up.

AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..

With the release of the DJI FPV Drone cinematic FPV has become a lot more accessible, but you certainly don't want to crash a $750 drone! The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..
