This was my third build, but my first build with a real PDB. My prior builds were DIY frames made of Aluminum & wood but this was my first real frame. All electronics were robbed from my other builds, and this became the first real F.P.V aircraft that I was able to master.

Parts used were:
Hextronic DT-750 motors
SimonK 30A ESC's
MultiWii MEGA2650 flight controller running MegaPirateNG
Ublox GPS
200mw 5.8GHz vTX
808 HD Cam for both FPV & H.D. recording

This quadcopter was a great experiment for me. I played with a servo style gimbal, and then later adapted what is known as the Super Simple Gimbal design. Both worked well, but never good enough to use practically. So they were abandoned. I also learned a lot about ArduCopter, autonomous GPS control & played with the 433mhz data radio. But most importantly, this build forced me to learn a lot about First Person View.

This quadcopter took a nasty spill one day after the motor came loose from its motor mount. That is when I replaced all four motors with SunnySky 2212-980kv, and then began to really test the limits of my F.P.V equipment. I later replaced the 2.4ghz FrSky & 200mw 5.8GHz vtx for a 1.3ghz vtx & a UHF control system. I could never get rid of the jello in my video and knew it was because of the flimsy plastic arms. And that is when I sold this quadcopter and spent the money on the Flip FPV frame.

The rest is history.... :)

AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..

With the release of the DJI FPV Drone cinematic FPV has become a lot more accessible, but you certainly don't want to crash a $750 drone! The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..
