I don't know much about JavaScript, but the HTML in the example doesn't look like it'd pass by W3C Standards :o (XHTML 1.0 Strict)

Use CSS more.

body {background:FFF5CF;position:absolute;width:461px;height:36px;z-index:1;left:11px;top:14px;}

etc..
