Hawkee   -  Dec 06, 2014

Welcome to the newly redesigned Hawkee.com! We've made extensive changes to the design in order to make it more readable and modern. There may be bugs, so please report anything you find. Here's a brief changelog:

  • New logo!
  • New font for headings: Bree Serif
  • New navbar with left and right off-canvas menus.
  • New posting mechanism.
  • More whitespace and larger fonts.
  • Page liking now happens at the bottom of pages.
  • Modal dialogs use new grow and fade animations.
  • Centered text in page titles.
  • No more footer (links are now in left off-canvas menu)
  • Simplified registraton/login system.
  • New Google noCAPTCHA with hopefully fewer spam accounts.
  • Almost every page has been tweaked in one way or another.

I've noticed several elements jitter when hovering over page elements. Mainly threads, projects, etc. Is this due to the cascading color, inside out, color animation taking place?

Hawkee  -  Dec 07, 2014

Could be. What browser do you see this on?

Sorasyn  -  Dec 07, 2014

Latest version of Chrome. I haven't tried it on any other browser just yet.

Hawkee  -  Dec 07, 2014

Hmm, I'm not seeing that on Chrome here. All that effect does is grow the div from left to right over a couple milliseconds.

Veryyyyyyy good update, good job @Hawkee :)

Sorasyn  -  Dec 07, 2014

It's not that big of a deal. I'd have to make a .gif of it. It's only ever so slight; like a one pixel jitter as the div expands.

Hawkee  -  Dec 07, 2014

That's enough to require a fix. I'd love to see a gif. Thank you!

Sorasyn  -  Dec 07, 2014

Well my .gif turned out to be of sufficiently terrible quality, despite my video looking somewhat decent.

Here's a link of it. It's primarily avatar pictures, the bullet points, etc. The resolution's still bad, but it's enough to showcase the point. Lol.

I'm having the same issue.

Profile pics and bullet points jitter.

Hawkee  -  Dec 08, 2014

Strange, maybe it's a Windows thing. I'm unable to reproduce it. I may just remove the expanding backgrounds if that solves it.

Looking great!

Hawkee  -  Dec 08, 2014

@Sorasyn @BlueThen How is it now? I just employed a potential fix.

Sorasyn  -  Dec 08, 2014

No, it still does it.

It could have something to do with how the content is centered when it's expanding.

Hawkee  -  Dec 08, 2014

@Sorasyn Okay, I just removed the transition entirely. Did that fix it?

Sorasyn  -  Dec 08, 2014

Sure did. :) Thanks, Hawkee.
