I doubled the resolution to support high DPI displays, so that might be what you're noticing. I can try to optimize the image sizes a bit to see if that helps.

Actually, Hawkee.com has been super unresponsive today (slow loading times, comment threads taking awhile to expand). I'm not sure if it's the avatars.

Strange, the server is running quite well right now. Could it be some local latency?
