What fonts do you like to see online? We use Open Sans here at Hawkee, but there are a number of modern, free fonts available.

I just discovered Lato and I have to say I like it.

I like Lato too. :O

EuroStyle is an interesting font. clean and slightly computer

Hawkee  -  Jan 04, 2013

@Cheiron Do you mean Eurostile? Know any websites that are using it? At $19 for each font weight it's a rather pricey font.

Cheiron  -  Jan 04, 2013

it can be pricey or.... http://www.ffonts.net/Eurostile.font

Hawkee  -  Jan 04, 2013

Looks like that option is $30/yr which is slightly cheaper.

Cheiron  -  Jan 04, 2013

Its an odd font.. but its a good one. we use it at work for our pdf's and stuff

Cheiron  -  Jan 05, 2013

in terms of Eurostile's usage in the world... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eurostile#Applications

Hawkee  -  Jan 05, 2013

Doesn't seem like Eurostile is a common web font though. Seems to be more of a static font for things like logos.

Cheiron  -  Jan 05, 2013

That's very true. It's a font that is like Marmite at the end of the day lol.. You either love it or loathe it..
It "can" be ok to use.. but it depends on "how" it is applied.

I prefer the font 'Courier New'. >.> With font size 9 usually.

JamoBox  -  Jan 05, 2013

I love the Ubuntu font family myself, just a personal preference though :)

Hawkee  -  Jan 05, 2013

@JamoBox What font does Ubuntu use?

JamoBox  -  Jan 05, 2013

@Hawkee http://font.ubuntu.com/ They have their own

Hawkee  -  Jan 05, 2013

It looks nice. Their site does a nice job of showcasing it. I haven't seen any other sites using it though. Maybe you should build one.

JamoBox  -  Jan 05, 2013

I'm no web developer, but I do use the font as my default system font on my laptop with linux mint

Hawkee  -  Jan 05, 2013

@JamoBox Why not get into web development?

JamoBox  -  Jan 05, 2013

@Hawkee I've had little go at some web languages, just smalls things like forking my friend's mini JavaScript game from GitHub and adding a very basic high score feature, but I much prefer software programming. I think having to learn quite a few languages straight off the bat puts me off a bit, but I will definitely look into it again at some point.

Hawkee  -  Jan 05, 2013

I think the line between software development and web development is getting thinner and thinner. Many are saying HTML5 is the new standard for all application development.

JamoBox  -  Jan 05, 2013

Nice, I will certainly have to look into it, never hurts to explore I guess :)

ProIcons  -  Jan 05, 2013

I like the Ubuntu font aswell

Hawkee  -  Jan 06, 2013

I just came across this article and noticed it's using Ubuntu, http://bit.ly/UzgsE7 - Doesn't look so great here though.

JamoBox  -  Jan 06, 2013

@Hawkee It does indeed look very out of place there. I think it is because the page design they are using; it is very busy. I feel the Ubuntu font compliments a simplistic theme much more.
