While I do agree that it is a great place to come together and discuss mSL & other languages, its participants in such conversations are basically flamed for making incorrect statements or posting something that is seemingly inferior to others, and/or asking obvious questions. It is still in most peoples best interest to use /help rather than joining your channel for assistance as you will make much more progress. You can also thank xmrfunny1x for 90% of the stereotypes towards your channel from much of swift.

I sat in #mSL on swiftIRC for several months. It's by far the best mSL help channel I've ever been in.

that's regrettable, but it's unfair to belittle the combined efforts of hundreds of helpers and over 3 years of operation. as someone who helped establish the channel, and who has been there (albeit on and off) since that time, i honestly don't think it bold to say that the majority of users (staff and regular alike) are friendly, knowledgeable, and patient. with regards to the global mIRC scripting scene which has indubitably lost the fire it once had, i think it's marvelous that there still exist places like #mSL where people come together to discuss this great hobby of ours.

sorry for hijacking your submission Breanna!

Jaytea, I haven't been there in quite some time, but all staff whom replied to my questions were arrogant. I've been on Swiftirc longer than to jump to irrational conclusions. I'm speaking out of personal experience; #mSL ops, halfops, and voices alike are power drunk dumbasses lol... Only people of help there would be fellow questioners, and I can assure you I'm not the only one who feels this way.

SunnyD, i haven't noticed that. SwiftIRC's #mSL is the largest mIRC help channel on IRC; perhaps jumping to conclusions about such a place based on the actions of a few is an act not unlike that which you just described?

Dont believe I mentioned anything about useful rather than expanding your mSL base by using different techniques lol. As for being accused of ripping/stealing, its horribly obvious if its been ripped. Such as inconsistent coding habits with the rest of their snippets, etc..

 Respond
Jethro   -  Oct 29, 2010

Breanna, if you conduct a search through the archive of Hawkee snippets, you'll find that you're not the first person who's created similar snippets that you've posted, and certainly you won't be the last. Furthermore, MSL is so rampantly common that it's difficult to prove who's the "ripper" or "theft."

Breanna   -  Oct 29, 2010

Lol i dont like usefull snippets i have more but there pretty much the same and reason i wont do something else is cause i see them on hawkee already and i dont wanna get acused of ripping/stealing them someone on my server told me i stoled the flirt snippet im like wtf no i didnt

A small tip, try and challenge yourself with submitted snippets. Use different strategies and techniques to achieve your desired result. If there's one thing I've noticed from your snippets, it's that they're all at the same level, nothing is really raising the bar.

DragonFlare, using the command char or not is a matter of personal preference, and it has nothing to do with bad coding habit or inefficiency.

The same risk comes with using giant letter scripts. Looks nice. Unique at the least.

you have an extra closing bracket in it on last line

/msg $chan 12,1 FAIL1------------------12FAIL1-----------12FAIL1-----12FAILFAIL1-------------12FAILFAILFAIL } <--- there ;x

Jethro   -  Oct 27, 2010

You "fail" to realize this snippet may run the risk of being punished for spamming or flooding.
