address logger

By fire_wizard1 on Nov 24, 2008

hey this script was made by DragonFlare, so all props go to him, to use the script you have to post what room(s) you want to use like :join:#wnol_fm or :#wnol_fm,#TheBoonDocks,#cometotalk and so on and so forth, post any new idea's for the snippet that you want or changes to it that would make it more user friendly or more effecient. btw this is my first snippet, so be kind :)

DragonFlare added a on/off for the script he is currently working on a sectiont to allow you to set the channels it works in via the channel menu will keep you updated on any changes and Enjoy :) hows that?

menu channel {
  -
  Address Loger
  .ON: .enable #AddressLogger
  .OFF: .disable #AddressLogger
}

#AddressLogger on
on *:Join:#Chan1,#Chan2,#Chan3,#Chan4,#Etc:{
  writeini $nick Nick $nick At $address($nick,1) And $address($nick,2) Logged On $fulldate
}

#AddressLogger end

i agree with spoof, i started to script ( still a noob :( ) by editing other scripts, if there's something wrong i looked what i have done and trying to figure out what was wrong with that.
and searching here or google how it should b, and help from advanced scripters.
i wanted to make a dialog so what did i do, looked at a dialog from someone else, and figuring out how it works, now i'm busy (in my not so often free time) to make a complete dialog (nickserv and stuff) of my own (2 pics r online on hawkee of the dialog).
does it make me a good scripter? no, but i'm learning and thats the idea of learning to script on ur own :) (i think :p)

Doesn't hurt to edit a script and add stuff to learn what will work and wont. Sometimes that's the only way to learn basic scripting for people that can't find a stable scripting room. Most scripters that own mIRC scripting rooms are to busy writing their own scripts or get tired of seeing the same nick all the time asking questions on what will work in a script and wont for what they are doing. As far as ripping a script, that's messed up but there are people that do that unfortunately.

So hang in there and keep learning any way that helps you. The only way a script couldn't be ripped would be not to post it ever online and use personally on ones own mIRC. But that defeats the purpose of sharing... doesn't it.

tbh, idgaff most of the time, but DragonFlare is right, you guys and everyone else that post's comments to new scripters and to the people that you think riped off the script from someone else should be a tad bit more nice, and with this script he did make it, and i did help a lil bit, even if it was just correcting his spelling on a few things, and so fudging what. if you dont like what happened to a script or something like that, dont post squat about it if your going to be harsh with your criticism ok.

I never said i couldnt take constructive critism but im talking about the comments you guys leave like this sucks and all that bs some of the comments you guys leave are not nice at all and dont even have anything to do with constructive critism but Napa182 i didnt mean to just direct that comment at you im talking about everyone on hawkee the new scriptors arnt gonna wanna post scripts if you gtuys dog them on there first few scripts now me i could carless because im gonna do it the way i want to weither you guys like it or not your amoung the few people i listen to Napa182 all the others i ignore be\cause of the bs they post EL is another one but his critism can sometimes be offending to others i've read some of the posts he put he can be a real *** sometimes im not saying anything bad about him because all of us can be one at some point or another its just that they need to lighten up on begginers and accually post helpfull things not things that will scare the new scriptors off thats all im saying i've known you since i first sttarted posting on hawkee Napa182 and you seem like a nice guy but some of your comments are hurtfull to and i admit ive posted some hurtfull things but i try not to because i dont want to make anyone feel like there not welcom on Hawkee

This is a script site and in a script site all have to learn to take the bad with the good, yes not all of us have better knowledge then others but if you cannot take the Constructive criticism then its best not to post or be offended by that. I've been scripting since MSN days and iam old school and when i post man ppl say christ chain u old dog do it this way much faster and easier! :) And i reply thx but i'll do it my way for now :P

lmao hmm ok not once did i say you could not teach anyone i said "ur not the best choice to be learning from ",but whats the point in teaching people the wrong way to code and making them pick up ur bad habbits. You tend to do that DragonFlare, and you know it.

for 1 i dont judge peoples codes on mine. I judge by the way they are coded. you dont like what i say then delete it i can care less..

and cry me a f'en river this is the net if you can NOT take other peoples comments then dont post.

Just like i said before on another snippet, Im no where near the level people like napa are, but I totally agree with Dragonflare, derogatory comments on learners scripts by advanced scripters make the learners say to hell with it, why should I even try to learn this shit

Oh fire_wizard1 i made a mistake on that script. Instead of,

 #AddressLogger off

it needs to be.

 #AddressLogger on

And Napa182 just beacuse im not as advanced as you doesnt mean i cant teach anyone to the best i can i think its kinda pathetic that you dog people about scripts and judge peoples scripts by yours not everyone is as good as you and you should take that into consideration before youpost a comment you could hurt some people with the comments you post but none of you care how you make others feel now i dont care because ive grown to ignore your petty posts of bs

if you need help with tution fire_wizard, then check out this link on hawkee itself.

http://www.hawkee.com/phpBB2/viewforum.php?f=22

you should ideally learn the basics of scripting before posting here though

he did make the most of the script, where i did very little work on it, meaning i sparked the idea and he made it. im still a newb to scripting. and he made the script for me, so you wont really find it on his profile.

either that or if you must use the ini.. use the writeini / readini command and save it to the hd as a .txt document like i have on my snippet for nick tracking

 Respond
napa182   -  Nov 24, 2008

you should use hash tables for this cuz if you are on a server where you get lots of hit's ur ini file will fill up fast. you should also add away for the user to see the list of addy's and away to delete.
